A turning point in my life and my marriage happened when I realized that I was ultimately responsible for my own happiness. I unfairly expected my husband to accept that responsibility when we exchanged vows. And although he is a truly extraordinary individual, that was an impossible goal to meet. When God joins two people together, we are to become each other's helpmate, but the true source of our happiness and satisfaction must always be centered in our Lord, Jesus Christ. He can meet every need and fill any void that you may be feeling. When you allow Him to, He will come into your heart and truly restore your life. We were all created with that "God Shaped Hole" inside of us to cause us to depend on Him for fulfillment. Try as we might, there is nothing and no one on this earth that could ever fill that space - and that's God's design. He wants us to return to Him and worship Him for all that He is.
